FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, represents and promotes the interests of the global freight forwarding and logistics industry. Our members – approximately 40’000 forwarding and logistics companies employing around 8-10 million people in over 150 countries – expect a competent and service related assistance from our Secretariat in Glattbrugg/Zurich.

We are looking for September 2011 for a successor of the retiring

Director General (m/f)

Your key responsibilities:

  • to develop a strategy for FIATA, based on market evolutions in a global market;

  • to establish personal and professional network in order to anticipate the global market evolutions;

  • to attract and develop high level professional work force to design and implement the FIATA strategy targets;

  • to organise/manage the budget process of the FIATA organisation;

  • to build a h3 professional relationship internal and external, and especially with our Association members;

  • to lead and motivate your colleagues at our Headquarter.

Your profile / competences:

  • University degree in economics or law (master or master after master) preferable;

  • At least 5 years proven professional experience in a high level position in an international (preferably multinational) organisation in a global environment;

  • Outstanding knowledge of the forwarders business in a global context;

  • Experience in commercial enterprises as well as in trade or transport organisations;

  • Analytical capacity and competence to present complex perspectives in clear terms;

  • Good ability to negotiate and present the position of FIATA in international conferences;

  • Multilingual: perfect verbal and written English, good knowledge of German, French and other language is an asset;

  • Good computer and administrative skills;

  • Ability to work independently with an entrepreneurial mind-set.
