1. UN Draft Documents Published: The Ministerial declaration of the high-level political forum on sustainable development
Ministerial declaration of the high-level segment of the 2014 session of the Economic and Social Council conveyed on the theme of “Achieving the Millennium Development Goals and charting the way for an ambitious post-2015 development agenda, including the sustainable development goals”.
The council meeting stressed the importance of removing obstacles in order to promote the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and an ambitious post-2015 development agenda. The meeting further underlined the need for a coherent approach that integrates in a balanced manner the three dimension of sustainable and working towards a single framework.

2. ICAO Air Cargo Development Forum, Zhengzhou, China - September 2nd - 5th
On September 2nd to 5th 2014, ICAO, in partnership with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the People’s Government of the Henan Province, will host the ICAO Air Cargo Development Forum in Zhengzhou, China.
The Forum will present recent trends in the delivery of air cargo services and the regulatory framework to be implemented for the sustainable development of air cargo. An outlook of the challenges preventing the air cargo industry from reaching its potential will be provided in relation to specific areas, such as liberalization of air cargo services, the development of an air cargo security system, the enhancement of air cargo facilitation and the air cargo hub and its value chain.
The Forum will be attended by several high ranking Chinese Government officials and it will be possible to arrange face-to-face meetings with them over the course of the event. In addition, Mr Zhao Huxiang will be in attendance and speaking on behalf of FIATA.

4. UN Secretary-General appoints 12 members to a high-level Advisory Group on sustainable transport
The Advisory Group, established for a period of three years, will work with Governments, transport providers, businesses, financial institutions, civil society and other stakeholders, to promote sustainable transport systems and their integration into development strategies and policies, including in climate action.
The aim of the Advisory Group is to promote accelerated implementation of sustainable transport, aligned closely with the objectives of inclusive and equitable growth, social development, protection of the global environment and ecosystems, and addressing climate change.

5. FIATA urges Members to be vigilant regarding sanctions involving Russia/EU/US
The situation in Ukraine has become more complex as the US, EU, and Russia have levied sanctions upon one another. FIATA urges its Members to be aware of the restrictions set in place. Prior to conducting business, check with your nation’s trade ministry and other pertinent sources in order to ensure that no fines are incurred.
