The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) – the world body representing the interests of the global freight forwarding and logistics industry – has celebrated its 80th anniversary by enrolling its 5000th Individual member.
The 5000th member is EAGLE FREIGHT of Cairo/Egypt, which was established in 1995 and employs a workforce of 15. It has joined the Individual Member’s category. FIATA, which has its headquarters in Switzerland, also comprises 94 National Association members (national bodies).
Said FIATA Director General Marco A. Sangaletti: “Our Federation has experienced particularly strong growth over the past two years. This can be attributed on the one hand to increasing globalisation, and on the other to the ever-expanding range of professional services we offer our members. We expect membership growth to continue at an impressive rate, notably from developing countries”.
The 5000th member was enrolled only a few weeks after FIATA’s 80th anniversary (the Federation was founded in Vienna/Austria on 31 May, 1926). EAGLE FREIGHT is being offered a year’s free membership of FIATA and an invitation to the FIATA 2006 World Congress, to be staged in Shanghai from 18 to 21 September.
A special welcome ceremony for EAGLE FREIGHT will also take place during the FIATA World Congress, which is the first in the history of the Federation to be held in China.
