FIATA World Congress 2010 in Bangkok

The 2010 FIATA World Congress was held from 4 to 8 October 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand. The attractive congress program and the concurrently running exhibition attracted hundreds of participants from 73 countries.

At the Opening Ceremony Mr Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Thailand, FIATA President Jean Claude Delen, and TIFFA Chairman Suwit Ratanachinda welcomed the participants. All were pointing out the importance of Thailand as a regional hub for the Greater Mekong Sub-Region and for South-Asia in general.

A highlight was certainly the admittance of five new Association members from Cameroon, Nigeria, Qatar, Rwanda and Togo. FIATA President Jean-Clause Delen said: “FIATA is proud and happy that the General Meeting has admitted these five national associations from the Region Africa/Middle East as new FIATA members. It will be one of FIATA’s main goals in the future to assist these new members to strengthen their position as the voice of the freight forwarding and logistics industry in their countries”.

Furthermore, Mr Philipp Kueffner from Germany has been announced as the overall winner of the 2010 Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award.
