Doha/Qatar hosts RAME (Region Africa Middle East) Field Meeting

Doha/Qatar was the host city in June (5th to 7th June 2011) for this year's RAME Field Meeting. The event was organized by the Qatar National Association of Freight & Logistics, youngest Association member to host FIATA’s event.

Under the patronage of the Minister of Business and Trade, His Excellency Sheikh Jassim Bin Abdulaziz Al Thani and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) a special recognition was given to the excellent opportunity the event presented to the particpants in the freight sector to network with colleagues in the region and to advance business relationship in this progressive country and the potential it represents. The event recorded  distinct attendance from Africa and Middle East regions numbering in all around 120 delegates from 14 countries.

Mr. Issa Baluch from the United Arab Emirates chaired the event in the presence of  high ranking Qatari Government Officials and Commercial Trade. And for the first time  FIATA’s current  President, Mr. Jean-Claude Delen attended  this year’s RAME FIELD MEETING. It provided a perfect setting for different presentations, from  the Qatar National Association of Freight & Logistics the Qatari Customs Authority and the Qatari Chamber of Commerce & Industry  amongst others. Welcome speeches made  by his Excellency, the Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mr Mohammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Bin Al Kuwari, the President of Qatar Association of Freight and Logistics, Eng. Ali Bin Ahdualtif Al Misnad,  FIATA’s President Mr. Jean-Claude Delen, the acting RAME Chairman Mr. Issa Baluch amongst others. Topic discussions attracted  interactions and active discussions from thendelegates. The RAME Meeting in Qatar provided an excellent  OPPORTUNITY for Networking.

Other important issues were: Latest information's on the forthcoming FIATA WORLD CONGRESS 2011 which will be held in Cairo/Egypt between 16th and 21st October. The information provided from the Chair about new – potential- FIATA Association's in the RAME Region and of course. Other important announcement made by the Chair was an update   of the RAME Region in the Young International Freight Forwarder Award 2011, where 5 countries from the RAME Region have participated.

FIATA was represented at this Field Meeting by FIATA President Mr. Jean-Claude Delen, RAME acting Chairman Mr. Issa Baluch and RAME Manager Peter Maegerle.
