1. Data collection methods

When you apply to become our member or send us enquiries through our website, we use data collection methods and technologies on our website to collect data for the purposes of providing you various membership services, such as:

  • Notifying you of the membership status of your association or company, sending you membership invoices;
  • Sending FIATA e-Flash and FIATA Review;
  • Access to the FDDS with some password protected online content (The FDDS is only available for FIATA Presidency and Extended Board Members as well as for FIATA Delegates);
  • Answering your enquires; and
  • Gathering analytics on our website traffic.

2. Data we collect

Most parts of our website are open to the public, with no need to enter any personal data. While using some functions of our website, such as “become a member” for membership application, “Member Area” for membership management, “FDDS” for access to our internal files and credit card payment function, we may ask you to provide us with certain personal data that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). Personal Data may include, but not limited to:

  • Full name
  • Association or company represented
  • Mailing address 
  • Phone number, fax number
  • Email address
  • Invoicing details
  • Credit card information (only when you use private credit card for online payment on our webpage)

3. Where we store your data

The data that we collect from you are stored in our Content Management System (CMS) database storage. By submitting your personal data, you agree to store your personal data by us. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. Your data will only remain in the FIATA database. The Association Member that approves your application to join us as Individual Member may be given reasonable data from your company or you personally for the purpose of managing the membership of your company. Our IT or financial services providers are only allowed access to the database when it is technological necessary to do so. Other than that, your personal data will not be transmitted or disclosed to any other third person.

4. How and for which purposes we use your information

We may use information that we collect about you to provide you our membership services, such as: 

  • Processing any membership registration for an account on our website and for the subsequent administration of that account.
  • Sending you emails such as annual invoices, FIATA e-Flashes and FIATA Reviews, publications, notices of FIATA events and other services and news about us. You may opt out of these services at any time (except for receiving invoices when you still want to maintain membership with us).  
  • Contacting you to inform you about changes in our services and other important service related notices.
  • Responding to your enquires and requests.
  • Managing our services, to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, or perform functions as otherwise described to you at the time of collection.

5. Cookies policy

Like many websites, we use cookies and Google analytics and other data technologies to receive and store certain types of information when you interact with us through your computer or mobile device. We use “cookies” (a small text file sent by your computer each time you visit our site) or similar technologies to record log data. Specifically, for analytics providers, we use Google Analytics, which is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

6. Choises and individual rights

We aim to take reasonable steps, so you can correct, amend, delete or limit the use of your Personal Data.

We outline your choices below:

E-mail. As described above, if you do not wish to receive any e-mails from us, you may opt out at any time. However, if the association or company you represent is an active member of FIATA, we would need your association or company to appoint another contact person so we can continue what is necessary for maintaining the membership, such as issuing membership invoices.

Your browser’s help function should contain instructions on how to set your computer to accept all cookies, to notify you when a cookie is issued or to not receive cookies at any time.

Your rights under certain circumstances.  To initiate any of the actions here below please contact us at info(at)fiata.com:

  • To access and receive a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you.
  • To rectify any Personal Data held about you that is inaccurate.
  • To request the deletion of Personal Data held about you.
  • You have the right to data portability for the information you have provided to us. You can request to obtain a copy of this information in a commonly used electronic format so that you can manage and move it.  We will need to verify your identity before being able to respond to such requests.

Please note that in some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

Changes to the Policy

We may change this policy from time to time, and if we do, we’ll post any changes on this page. If you continue to visit our site after those changes are in effect, you agree to the revised policy. If the changes are significant, we may provide more prominent notice or get your consent on the new policy.
