Damascus/Syrian Arab Republic was the host city for a RAME Field Meeting in June. The event was organized by SIFFA (Syrian International Freight Forwarding Association) in co-operation with FIATA’s RAME Chairman Capt. Mansoor from Dubai/UAE.
It was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport of Syria. Special attention was given to the issue of regional free flow of cargoes between the Middle East countries and the role played by the Syrian Authorities.
The conference was attended by more than 180 delegates from 19 countries and was chaired by Capt. Mansoor Y.A. Ghafoor from the United Arab Emirates. Also participating were high ranking representatives from the Syrian Government and Commercial Trade. It provided a perfect setting for different presentations, such as the Syrian Intl. Freight Forwarding Association, Port of Tartous, Syrian Railways, and Syrian Customs. Mr. Issa Baluch (Chairman SWIFT Freight, Dubai/UAE and former FIATA President) has made a presentation about Challenges + Opportunities in RAME, other Panellists were Mr. David Nutakor (Ghana), Mr. Nabil al Khatib (Jordan) as well as from Syrian Government Officials, to name but a few.
The RAME Chairman was happy to welcome H.E. the Deputy Minister of Transport of Syria, Dr.Zanbooa; Mr. Thomas Oertle, Deputy Head of Mission, Swiss Embassy to Syria, and ormer FIATA President and RAME Chairman, Mr. Issa Baluch. RAME Chairman Capt. Mansoor conveyed the best wishes from Mr. William Gottlieb (FIATA President) to all attendees.
Topic discussions have attracted a large amount of delegates to interact for the many issues discussed. This RAME Meeting has attracted the highest number of participants in the history of RAME.
FIATA was represented at this Field Meeting by RAME Chairman Capt. Mansoor and RAME Manager Peter Maegerle.
